To override Automatic Capitalization, use the keys Ctrl+9 to toggle automatic capitalization on and off. You can also turn off automatic capitalization permanently using the Automatic Capitalization Options Dialog.
For a single key, you can also press Shift+Space (or equivalently, Escape) before typing the key. For example, typing a at the start of a paragraph will produce A with automatic capitalization. To obtain a press Shift+Space before typing the a.
There
are several other ways to cancel the capitalization by resetting the
Instant Text context:
any Ctrl combination
any Alt combination
any direction key
any function key (if Function Keys are checked as Reset Expander Keys in the Special Keys Options Dialog)
When the Instant Text context is reset, Instant Text forgets about what was typed before and hence about the need to capitalize; basically Instant Text behaves as if it were just started.
One trick
that works in most applications and that takes care of both,
cancelling the capitalization
and backspacing the unwanted spaces
is to hit Shift+Backspace instead of Backspace.
You can inhibit capitalization after an expansion by adding a trailing vertical bar ("|") at the end of the Long form of your glossary entry.
